At Pedernales Veterinary Center, we are committed to providing the best quality veterinary services to you and your horse. Whether you compete professionally, or pleasure ride on the weekends, we’ve got you covered 24 hours a day. Our facility is equip with 2 indoor treatment stocks, a surgery suite, and a spacious barn for hospitalized patients. Our barn has 12 stalls; three with attached outdoor runs. Additionally, we have a large foaling stall, and a climate-controlled fluid stall for more critical patients.

General Medicine: This includes routine vaccinations, deworming consultation, preventive health care, and nutrition support. Additionally, we treat more severe medical conditions, such as: chronic cough, upper airway disease, infectious diseases, poor appetite, neurological disorders and diarrhea.

Endoscopy: An endoscope is a non-invasive means of identifying abnormalities inside the horse. Our endoscope allows us to identify conditions of the upper airway, reproductive tract, urinary bladder, and the digestive system.

Reproduction: Here at PVC we oversee the breeding of approximately 150 mares per year. We are extremely proficient in artificial insemination, problem/sub-fertile mares, embryo retrieval, neonatal care.

Dentistry: We routinely perform oral exams, teeth floating, teeth extractions, and manage sinusitis.


Ophthalmology: Our services include treatment of corneal ulcers, recurrent uveitis, glaucoma, eyelid tumors, including squamous cell carcinoma and sarcoids.

Lameness: We offer prepurchase exams, with or without digital radiography. Lameness evaluations, and treatments including joint injections, Tildren/Osphos and laser therapy.

Foal Out Services: Whether it is for high-risk pregnancies or pregnancies anticipated to be normal, We can keep a watch eye on expecting mares to give owners peace of mind.

Foal Care: Sick newborns are extremely critical, and require treatment early one. We are able to provide intensive care for your foal, and help him/her get back on their feet.

Emergency services: Care for your horse is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.  A veterinarian is on call at all times to ensure prompt response and timely care for our patients. Our intensive-care stall is climate controlled, and features specially designed equipment for IV fluid administration. We routinely treat colics, chokes, birthing complications and extensive wounds/lacerations.
